In this Privacy Policy, we seek to explain how we may collect, use, and share your Personal Information, and what rights you may have under this policy.

Depending on how you use the Company’s services, we may collect certain Personal Information. The Personal Information we collect may include:

  • Personal identifiers: ex. name, account login and password, email address, postal address, job title and job role

  • Usage Information: ex. information and data you create, upload and aggregate from cloud service providers and/or ID service providers when you are using the Company’s website and/or Service

  • Online activity information: ex. access log such as viewed websites, information such as use environments, IP address, information about your activity in the Company’s website and/or Service and activity history on the websites that are integrated with advertising websites and the Company’s Services through cookie syncing

Money Forward i does not sell the Personal Information we collect from you. Personal information obtained by the Company is used for the following purposes.

(1) Personal information of customers who use the Company’s services

  • To provide, operate, and manage the Company’s services 

  • To provide support for the Company’s services and to respond to customer inquiries, complaints, disputes, lawsuits, etc. 

  • To provide information on products, services, events, seminars, etc. of the Company, its parent company, and its subsidiaries (the “Moneyforward Group Companies”), and business partners (including analyzing obtained information and providing information tailored to each individual) 

  • To notify customers of any change, etc. to the Company’s terms, policies, etc., regarding the Company’s services 

  • To manage the operation of campaigns, etc. 

  • To perform operations associated with the above and to communicate, carry out procedures, and respond to inquiries 

  • To improve or enhance the Company’s services or develop new services by analyzing obtained information 

  • To improve the quality of the Company’s response to inquiries and to accurately understand the contents of inquiries 

  • To create, use, disclose, and provide statistical data regarding the Company’s services to the extent that individuals cannot be identified 

  • To improve and enhance the Company’s services and to create, use, and provide marketing materials after processing data so that individuals cannot be identified 

(2) Personal information obtained in connection with applications for or participation in events, seminars, etc. 

  • To hold (operate and manage) events and seminars (including providing participant information to co-hosting companies and supporting companies) 

  • To provide information on products, services, events, seminars, etc. of the Moneyforward Group Companies and business partners by post, telephone, facsimile, email, etc. (including analyzing obtained information and providing information tailored to each individual) 

  • To manage the operation of campaigns, etc. 

  • To plan events and seminars and improve the Company’s services or develop new services by analyzing obtained information 

(3) Personal information obtained when receiving inquiries, opinions, etc. 

  • To respond to various inquiries 

  • To improve the quality of the Company’s response to inquiries and to accurately understand the contents of inquiries 

  • To improve or enhance the Company’s services or develop new services by analyzing obtained information 

(4) Personal information of business partners 

  • To select business partners, provide sales information, carry out procedures to execute contracts, manage transactions, and fulfill obligations in contracts or transactions 

  • To provide information on products, services, events, etc. of the Moneyforward Group Companies and business partners by post, telephone, facsimile, email, etc. (including analyzing obtained information and providing information tailored to each individual) 

(5) Personal information that has been made public or published and personal information provided by database providers 

  • To provide information on products, services, events, etc. of the Company, the Moneyforward Group Companies and business partners by post, telephone, facsimile, email, etc. (including analyzing obtained information and providing information tailored to each individual) 

  • To perform operations associated with the above and to communicate, carry out procedures, and respond to inquiries 

(6) Personal information of employees and job applicants 

  • To manage the employment of employees (including retired employees) and job applicants, conduct recruitment, carry out various procedures such as personnel administration, and communicate and respond to inquiries regarding other general administrative matters 

  • To manage the health of employees and ensure an appropriate working environment 

(7) Personal information for entrusted services

  • To perform entrusted services


In addition to the purposes of use set forth in (1) through (7) above, the Company shall use personal information to the extent necessary for the purposes of use notified to the individual when the Company obtains the personal information.

Money Forward i might provide your information to comply with legal obligations, including complying with the Companies Act, responding to subpoenas and other court orders, or implementing various shareholder policies, and as otherwise in compliance with the law and with our policies. Additionally, Money Forward i may share your Personal Information in connection with or during the negotiations of any merger, sale of all or part of company assets, financing, or acquisition of all or a portion of our business to another company.  

The Company will not provide personal information to third parties other than as described above unless it has obtained the consent of the individual concerned or that is required by law. 

[Entrustment of Operations]  

The Company might entrust all or part of the handling of personal information to the extent necessary to achieve the purpose of use.

The provision of personal information is voluntary, but if you do not provide the necessary personal information, the Company might not be able to respond appropriately to you. 

[Use of Cookies]  

The Company collects and analyzes information such as access logs (including information that has been automatically collected from browsers and applications such as viewed websites, information such as use environments, and activity history on websites that are integrated with advertising websites and the Company’s services through cookie syncing) using technology such as cookies and web beacons to understand how the Company’s websites and services are used, to operate and manage the Company’s websites and services, and to optimize advertising provided by the Company or third parties other than the Company. The Company also collects IP addresses to manage its websites and services. Although that information does not constitute personal information because it alone does not include information that identifies an individual, that information might be connected to personal information of customers, and in that case, the Company will treat that information as personal information. 

Your web browser can be set to allow you to control whether you will accept cookies, reject cookies, or to notify you each time a cookie is sent to you. If your browser is set to reject cookies, the Sites may not recognize you when you return to the website, and some website functionality may be lost. [Security Control Measures]  

To prevent any leak, loss, or damage to personal data handled by the Company and to otherwise ensure the safe management of personal data, the Company will take reasonable security measures and take necessary and appropriate measures to ensure the data is accurate and up-to-date, and if there is any problem, the Company will promptly take appropriate corrective measures.

Money Forward i is not designed nor indented for use by minors under the age of 13. Money Forward i does not knowingly collect any Personal Information from minors under the age of 13. If you are under 13, please do not provide any personal information to us. If you feel that we have unknowingly collected personal information from someone under the age of 13, please contact us immediately as described in the Contact Us Section below.

We retain your Personal Information for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes outlined in this Privacy Policy, unless applicable law requires a longer retention policy. 

[Opting Out of E-Mail Marketing]  

You may unsubscribe from our marketing email list at any time by clicking on the unsubscribe link in the emails that we send or by contacting us as described in the Contact Us section below. Exercising this option will remove you from our e-mail marketing list — however, please note that we may still communicate with you (for example to send you service-related emails that are necessary for the administration and use of your account, to respond to inquiries, or for other non-marketing purposes). 

[Controls for Do-Not-Track Features]  

Most web browsers and some mobile operating systems and mobile applications include a Do-Not-Track (“DNT”) feature or setting you can activate to signal your privacy preference not to have data about your online browsing activities monitored and collected. At this stage no uniform technology standard for recognizing and implementing DNT signals has been finalized. As such, we do not currently respond to DNT browser signals or any other mechanism that automatically communicates your choice not to be tracked online.

Subject to certain exceptions, individuals may have the following rights with respect to Personal Information:   

  • Access to Specific Information: You have the right to request that we disclose certain information to you about their collection and use of your Personal Information over the past twelve (12) months.  This right of access includes information about: 

    • The categories of Personal Information we collected about you 

    • The categories of sources for the Personal Information we collected about you 

    • Our business or commercial purpose for collecting that Personal Information 

    • The categories of third parties with whom we share that Personal Information 

    • The categories of Personal Information that each recipient received 

    • The specific pieces of Personal Information we collected about you 

    • The pieces of information we have shared about you for direct marketing purposes, and the names and addresses of third parties with whom we have shared Personal Information in the preceding twelve (12) months.  

  • Deletion and Correction Rights: You have the right to request that we delete or correct any of the Personal Information we hold about you.  

  • Portability Rights: You have the right to receive any Personal Information we hold about you in a structured and commonly-used machine-readable format, or have such Personal Information transmitted to another company. 

  • Opt-Out Rights: To the extent applicable to Money Forward i’s business operations, you have the right to request that the Company:  

    • Stop selling your Personal Information or sharing it for the purposes of cross-contextual behavioral marketing, and to refrain from doing so in the future. We are not currently selling or sharing your Personal Information.  

    • Stop processing of your Personal Information for the purposes of targeted advertising 

    • Stop processing of your personal data for the purpose of profiling in furtherance of decisions that produce legal effects 

The Company will not discriminate against you for exercising any of the rights listed above.  

When you make a request, we may require that you provide additional information, including Personal Information, and follow procedures so that we can verify the request and your jurisdiction before responding to it. After confirming that a request is from the person in question by means of an identification card, etc., the Company will respond without delay. If a request is made by an agent, the Company will confirm that the agent is a duly authorized agent by an official document, a letter of attorney, or a similar document.  

We are not required to respond to your requests for access or disclosure of Personal Information more than twice in a twelve (12) month period.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The updated version will be indicated by the “Last Updated” date and the updated version will be effective as soon as it is accessible. We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy frequently to be informed of how we are protecting your information. Your continued use of Money Forward i will constitute your agreement to be bound by the terms of the updated Privacy Policy. If you object to the new provisions of the updated Privacy Policy, you must stop using Money Forward i.
